Because we are an exclusively pediatric practice, everything we do is built around children. Parents often ask when to start. The short answer is the first tooth or the first birthday, whichever comes first. Early visits are short and gentle, and they give us a baseline — how teeth are erupting, how the bite is developing, whether bottle or thumb habits are affecting things, and how home brushing is going. Starting early also builds familiarity, so the dental office becomes a normal, unremarkable part of life rather than something new and intimidating.
From there, regular visits let us watch for the things that change fastest in growing mouths. Permanent molars come in around ages six and twelve with deep grooves that trap food and plaque, which is exactly where sealants help. Teens with braces, busy sports schedules, or a new taste for energy drinks face a different set of risks, and we adjust our advice accordingly. If your child plays contact sports, we also provide sports mouth guards to protect teeth from injury.

What Happens If We Find Something
Finding early decay at a preventive visit is common, and it is far better than finding it later. When treatment is needed, we can handle it in-house with dental fillings, composite bonding, crowns, root canal therapy on molars, simple extractions, and oral surgery, with a board-certified oral surgeon on staff who sees patients without a referral. If a tooth is knocked out, chipped, or aching, we also offer emergency dental appointments.
Comfort matters, especially for a child who is anxious. We offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas), oral sedation, and local and topical anesthesia, and we talk through the options with you first so nobody is surprised. Home Care, Results, and Staying on Track
What happens between visits matters more than what happens in our chair. After a fluoride treatment, we will let you know how soon your child can eat or drink. After a cleaning, gums may feel slightly tender for a short while, and gentle brushing helps them settle. Sealants are durable but not permanent, so we check them at each visit and reapply when needed.
