A toddler climbs into the chair holding a parent's hand, a fourth grader arrives with a chipped front tooth from a soccer game, and a high schooler comes in for a cleaning before heading off to college. Those three visits look nothing alike, and that's exactly the point. Children's teeth, jaws, and comfort levels change dramatically between the first birthday and young adulthood, and our office is built around that reality. We see infants through teens, we treat only children, and we shape every appointment around the age and temperament of the child in front of us.
Pediatric dentistry is the branch of dental care devoted to growing mouths, from the eruption of that very first tooth through the last of the permanent molars. We recommend a first visit around age one or when the first tooth appears, because early visits are short, gentle, and mostly about getting comfortable. From there, care typically settles into regular dental exams and dental cleanings, with our hygienist keeping an eye on plaque patterns, gum health, and how baby teeth are making room for adult ones.
Because we file as a pediatric specialty office and have a board-certified pediatric dentist on staff, we are also equipped for children who need more than a routine checkup. We treat children with special healthcare needs, and we welcome parents in the treatment room, which often makes the difference between a tense appointment and an easy one. Families come to us from Easley, Greenville, and Anderson, and many stay with us for a decade or more as their children grow.
Prevention is where most of our work happens. Fluoride treatment strengthens enamel that is still maturing, and dental sealants shield the deep grooves of back molars where toothbrush bristles struggle to reach — a common trouble spot for elementary-age kids. We also focus heavily on cavity detection, catching small problems while they are still small and easier to address. Alongside that, we spend real time on education: brushing technique, flossing, snack habits, and what to do when a child insists on falling asleep with a bottle.
When treatment is needed, we handle it in-house. Depending on what we find, that may mean dental fillings, composite bonding for a chipped or discolored tooth, a crown for a tooth too damaged for a filling, or root canal therapy on a molar. Simple extractions and oral surgery are available as well, and we have a board-certified oral surgeon on staff who accepts patients without a referral. For athletes, custom sports mouth guards help protect teeth during the seasons when accidents are most likely.
Comfort, Anxiety, and Emergencies
Fear of the dentist is common, and we never treat it as something a child should simply push through. We offer local and topical anesthesia for comfort during procedures, nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to take the edge off, and oral sedation for children who need deeper support to get through a visit. Our dental anesthesiology capability means anxiety is something we plan for in advance rather than improvise around.
Emergencies are part of childhood. We offer emergency dental appointments for situations such as:
- A tooth knocked out or loosened during sports or play
- A cracked, chipped, or broken tooth
- Sudden toothache or swelling
- A lost filling or crown
- Injury to the lips, gums, or tongue

Aftercare and Long-Term Results
What happens after an appointment matters as much as the appointment itself. We send families home with clear, age-appropriate instructions — what your child can eat, how to manage tenderness, how long numbness may last, and what to watch for. After sedation, we go over recovery expectations with parents before you leave so nobody is guessing in the parking lot.
The long game is a child who brushes without a fight, arrives at the office without dread, and carries those habits into adulthood. Consistent checkups let us track eruption patterns, spot decay early, and adjust our guidance as your child's diet and routines change.
