A typical appointment starts with a cleaning. Our hygienist removes plaque and tartar buildup, polishes the teeth, and checks how well the current home routine is working — where plaque is collecting usually tells us exactly which brushing spot is getting missed. Fluoride is applied when appropriate, and sealants can be placed on molars in the same visit or scheduled soon after.
The dentist then examines the teeth, gums, bite, and soft tissues and uses cavity detection to find decay while it's still small. If we find something, we walk you through it in plain terms and lay out the options — often a dental filling or composite bonding, and if a tooth needs more, we also provide crowns, root canal therapy, simple extractions, and oral surgery here rather than sending you elsewhere. Aftercare and Staying on Schedule
There's no downtime after a cleaning. If fluoride was applied, we'll tell you how long to wait before eating or drinking. Sealants are ready to use right away and are checked at future visits to make sure they're still intact. If a mouth guard was made for your athlete, we'll cover rinsing, storage, and when it's time for a new one as the mouth grows.
Most children do well with visits twice a year, though we may suggest a different interval based on cavity risk. Between visits, we're here for emergency dental appointments — a knocked-out tooth at practice or a toothache that shows up overnight shouldn't wait.
