Why choose us
Benefits of Dental Cleaning
Built for kids
We see only children, adolescents, and teens, so every cleaning is paced and explained in a way kids understand.
Cavities caught early
Each visit pairs a gentle cleaning with an exam and cavity detection so small problems get handled before they hurt.
Parents stay close
You're welcome in the treatment room with your child from start to finish.
Stronger enamel
We can add fluoride treatment or sealants to help protect teeth between visits.
Easy on your budget
We accept all major PPO plans and Medicaid, offer self-pay and HSA/FSA options, flexible financing, and a $99 new patient special.
A six-year-old climbs into the chair with a loose front tooth and a habit of brushing for about ten seconds. A teenager arrives with braces-adjacent crowding and a toothbrush that never quite reaches the back molars. A toddler comes in for her very first visit, sitting on a parent's lap. All three need the same foundational appointment: a professional dental cleaning. It's the visit that catches small problems while they're still small, and it's the one we schedule most often in our Easley and Greenville offices.
A dental cleaning removes plaque and hardened tartar that brushing and flossing at home can't fully reach — especially along the gumline, between teeth, and in the deep grooves of back molars. Our dental hygienist uses gentle instruments and a polishing cup to clear that buildup, then smooths the tooth surfaces so plaque has a harder time sticking. For children, this matters more than many parents realize: young enamel is thinner, snack schedules are frequent, and brushing technique is still developing. Regular cleanings keep decay from getting a foothold in the first place.
Cleanings pair naturally with a dental exam and cavity detection, so we're not just polishing teeth — we're checking how the bite is developing, watching erupting permanent teeth, and looking for early demineralization. We see infants through teens, from the first tooth or age one through young adulthood, and we treat children with special healthcare needs. Because we're exclusively pediatric, every part of the visit is built around kids: the pacing, the language we use, and the way we explain what's happening before we do it.
Almost every child is a candidate for a routine cleaning, and most do beautifully. Still, it helps to know a few things before you come. Parents are welcome in the treatment room — you don't have to wait in the lobby, and for younger children we often encourage you to stay close. If your child is nervous, tell us ahead of time. We offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and oral sedation, along with local and topical anesthesia, and we have a dental anesthesiologist capability in-house for children whose anxiety makes a standard appointment difficult.
A cleaning visit is also where we decide whether preventive add-ons make sense. Fluoride treatment strengthens enamel against acid, and dental sealants fill in the deep pits of molars where toothbrush bristles simply don't fit. If we find a cavity, we'll talk through options like dental fillings, composite bonding, or crowns at that same visit rather than sending you home guessing. When a child needs care beyond routine dentistry, we coordinate with our partners at Ashby Park Family Orthodontics and Coastal Family Oral Surgery & Sedation, and we have a board-certified oral surgeon on staff for surgical needs — no referral required.
Things that are useful for us to know before the appointment:
- Any history of dental anxiety, gagging, or difficulty sitting still
- Special healthcare needs, sensory sensitivities, or communication preferences
- Current medications and allergies
- Whether your child has had a dental injury or complains of pain anywhere
- Your child's brushing and snacking routine at home
Aftercare and What Results Look Like
There's almost no downtime after a cleaning. Teeth feel smooth, and gums that were slightly inflamed usually settle down within a day or two. If we applied fluoride, we'll tell you how long to wait before eating or drinking. Some children notice mild sensitivity for a short time, particularly if there was heavier tartar buildup — that generally fades on its own.
The real results come from what happens between visits. We spend time coaching kids on brushing twice a day for two minutes and flossing where teeth touch, and we talk with parents about how often sugary drinks and sticky snacks are showing up in the day. Most children do well on a cleaning every six months, though we'll recommend a different interval if your child's cavity risk calls for it. Over time, consistent cleanings mean fewer fillings, less emergency treatment, and a child who isn't afraid of the dentist.
Insurance, Financing, and Getting Started
We accept all major PPO insurance plans, Medicaid, and self-pay patients, and we file pediatric claims as a specialist. We also accept HSA and FSA funds and offer flexible financing plans. New families can start with our $99 New Patient Special.
If it's been a while since your child's last cleaning — or if this is their very first — we'd like to meet them. We serve families across Greenville, Easley, and Anderson, and we also keep room for emergency dental appointments when something can't wait. Call either office to schedule.
